We track the short domain market.
ShortNames aggregates and tracks short domain name auctions and sales across a multitude of domain marketplaces. We provide tools and powerful search features to help domain investors track and monitor domains of interest.
The site was launched in May 2016 by developer (and domain investor) Russell Panella, who had previously run the niche site LLLLSales.com since February 2009. He has been investing and tracking the domain aftermarket since early 2008.
What is a short name?
A short domain name is generally considered to be a domain made up 1-4 letters or 1-7 digits, or a short combination of both letters and numbers. Because of the limited number of short names that exist, along with short acroynms and numbers being appealing to end-users, there is a very liquid market for short domains. Many segments of short names have had all domains registered for years, and a large percentage of domain transactions in the aftermarket each day consist of short domain names.
Do you verify all sales?
Most sales we track are collected from the closing price of public auctions, as well as some private sales that are reported to us by certain marketplaces. Some auctions do not go through successfully due to non-paying bidders (and some Godaddy expired auctions are renewed by the previous owner). We do our best to remove any such sales. Please contact us using the information below if you find a sale that you feel is in error.
The goal of the site is to provide an aggregated overview of the market, and to report closing prices as quickly as possible. The effort and time delay to verify each sale individually is not feasible for the quantity of sales that we track, but we are constantly improving our systems to keep our data as accurate as possible.
Can you help me sell my domains?
We don't run our own domain auctions, but if you list your domain for sale in one of the marketplaces that we track, it will be included in our search results.
